Data Sources and Model References

PerilX does not treat earthquake, flood and landslide data as equivalent layers. Each source is used within its own geographic scope, resolution and interpretive limitation.

Source scope and use

The sources below are public or institutional references used for the corresponding hazard, environmental or valuation context. Their resolutions and analytical depth differ; they should not be treated as if they provide the same type of evidence.

Earthquake hazard model

Source
European Facilities for Earthquake Hazard and Risk (EFEHR), European Seismic Hazard Model 2020 (ESHM20)
Use in PerilX
Location-based earthquake hazard, spectral acceleration and ground-motion context.
Key limitation
Hazard is not building damage; structural behaviour is interpreted separately through typology, construction period and fragility context.
Official source or reference

Turkish earthquake code and ground context

Source
AFAD, Turkish Building Earthquake Code 2018 (TBDY 2018)
Use in PerilX
Reference framework for local ground-effect interpretation in the Turkish earthquake-engineering context.
Key limitation
The code reference does not establish a specific building's performance or regulatory compliance.
Official source or reference

Ground-stiffness indicator

Source
United States Geological Survey (USGS), VS30 models and data
Use in PerilX
Regional indicator for the average shear-wave velocity in the upper 30 metres of ground.
Key limitation
It is not a parcel-specific ground investigation and does not independently determine local fill, liquefaction, slope or foundation conditions.
Official source or reference

Flood hazard data

Source
European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC), 50-year flood-depth data
Use in PerilX
Location flood-hazard class, water depth and depth-damage context for Türkiye.
Key limitation
The dataset does not fully represent urban drainage, flow velocity, flood duration, basement connections or local protective measures.
Official source or reference

Landslide susceptibility data

Source
NASA, Global Landslide Susceptibility data products
Use in PerilX
Regional landslide susceptibility as a pre-screening location indicator.
Key limitation
It is not a parcel-level geotechnical assessment, slope-stability analysis or site observation.
Official source or reference

Earthquake vulnerability and loss reference

Source
Boğaziçi University / Kandilli Earthquake Engineering Department, ELER methodology
Use in PerilX
Scientific reference for spectral capacity, fragility and earthquake-loss concepts in the Turkish building-stock context.
Key limitation
PerilX does not generate unsupported fragility curves for type-height combinations outside the source taxonomy.
Official source or reference

Replacement-cost reference

Source
Republic of Türkiye Official Gazette, annual approximate unit construction costs
Use in PerilX
Reference for portfolio replacement-cost estimation and the monetary expression of expected loss.
Key limitation
It does not represent market value, land value, income value, movable property or special strengthening costs.
